Leander ISD Students, you are invited to compete in the 10-Day Film challenge! Write, film and edit a short film in the 10-day period, and submit your work for a chance to win prizes!

 

The challenge begins at the Kick-off Event

June 13, 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Cedar Park Recreation Center
1435 Main St., Cedar Park, TX 78613

At the Kick-off, you will select a genre in a random drawing. Filmmakers must also incorporate the following bit of dialogue and prop in their film. 

Required Prop: An umbrella (any kind of umbrella)

Required Dialogue: Look within

You will have 10 days to create and complete your short film before submitting it on June 23. 

If you were not able to attend the Kick-off Event, you may register online. A Council representative will randomly draw your team's genres, which we will email to you.

Genre Drawings
Filmmakers will be assigned two genres in random drawing, from two groups of genres. Teams may decide which genre to use for their film, or may combine both genres.

Possible genres in the random drawing include:

Genre Group #1: Action/Adventure • Comedy • Drama • Fantasy/Sci-Fi • Musical • Mystery • Thriller • Western

Genre Group #2: Animal Film • Buddy Film • Family Film • Holiday/Vacation Film • Mockumentary • Silent Film • Slapstick • Sports Film • Spy Film

Length of film
Films should not exceed 5 minutes. (Up to one additional minute of credits may be added.)

Content
The filmmakers may choose any topic or storyline, but they must stick to the genre selected in the random drawing on June 13. Films should be family-friendly in both language and content. 

Submitting your video
Films must be submitted online or on a flash drive by June 23. We will be collecting entries on flash drives on June 23, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Cedar Park Public Library, 550 Discovery Blvd. 

To submit your film online, please include your name in the file name and upload to the 10-Day Film Challenge dropbox

Who can participate?
Leander ISD middle school and high school students may participate in the Film Challenge. Students may work solo or in teams. (Teams must include at least one LISD student.)

10-Day Film Project Screening Event
Films submitted will be shown at a screening event, where awards will be presented.
